Prior to coaching, I had a 16-year career in HR. I worked across different industries, but spent most of my time in Professional Services including two top accountancy firms (BDO, Grant Thornton) and two regional law firms in the South.
During my career, I worked hard to climb the career ladder and reached HR leadership roles so I understand both the operational and strategic pressures in the workplace. I have worked on large change projects and had to deal with some very challenging people issues over the years. I have built and managed my own teams and supported business leaders in developing their own people. The work was emotionally exhausting at times and I often took that home with me.
Life got challenging when I had my two daughters whilst trying to continue in my career. Juggling children whilst in a busy role was demanding and certainly tested my own resilience at times. I found myself on the daily hamster wheel and living on autopilot. I was fed up with working long hours, neglecting my own self-care at times, and not always having time with my children.
Quite often we get so caught up in our busy lives that we play it safe and stick with what we know. Many people hide on the hamster wheel because it’s often easier. I saw so many other people in the workplace feeling overwhelmed and struggling to get the balance right over the years. I have also seen first-hand the impact of employees experiencing burnout and felt there was more I wanted to do to prevent this from happening in the first place.
I was always passionate about employee wellbeing, but I wanted to be able to do more to help at a deeper level and I didn’t have the skills to do this. So, I decided to start retraining and learning new skills in the health and wellness space. It was time for me to step out of my comfort zone! I made the decision to take back control and work on finding balance and living a calmer and happier life.
I went on my own personal development journey and I continue to expand my knowledge. Change takes time and commitment, but it's worth it when you come out the other side.
Navigating the world of self employment hasn't been easy, but I've learnt to work in a more mindful way, paying attention to how I'm feeling rather than keep pushing through. There will always be obstacles to overcome and by building your resilience you can face your challenges head on. For me it's all about laying the foundations for success, taking those small steps towards achieving your goals.
I bring a grounded and natural perspective to my work. I’m a working parent so I understand what it’s like juggling children with modern working life. It’s easy to lose ourselves along the way and your confidence can take a knock. I also understand what it's like when you start a business, you always feel like you should be doing more and it can be hard to switch off.
It's not easy but you have to learn to slow down and find that time to reconnect with yourself. Now I get to share my own experience and expertise to help others to improve their emotional and mental wellbeing.

I'm a qualified NLP Practitioner (ABNLP), Time-Line Therapist, Hypnosis Practitioner, Mental Health First Aider, and Meditation Teacher. I'm also a Chartered Member of the CIPD, a full member of the Association for Coaching, and the UK Health Coaches Association.
